5th Grade School Counselor

Welcome! 

My name is Alec Carey, and I am the 5th grade school counselor at East Woods Intermediate School. I am so excited to be serving our 5th grade students this school year! 

 A little bit about me… I have a bachelor's degree from Grace College and a master's degree from THE Ohio State University (GO BUCKS). I grew up in the Akron area and have loved the opportunity to serve the community I grew up in. Outside of school, I love to hike, mountain bike, snowboard, write music, play guitar, listen to vinyl, play soccer, and spend time with friends and family. 

I come to Hudson City School District having worked in a school counseling role at the intermediate and middle school levels in Parma, Ohio. I have many diverse experiences working in both school and community settings providing crisis support, engaging students with social emotional learning, and collaborating with stakeholders. 

Over the course of this school year, I will be providing classroom lessons, group counseling, as well as individual counseling for students surrounding personal/social, academic, and college/career topics. Additionally, I will be assisting with RTI and serving as the 504 case manager for 5th grade.
